The goal for myself is to make money from doing white hat marketing methods. However, I do post methods which can be considered to be gray hat, or even black hat. The term “black hat” covers a fairly wide range of marketing activities from morality and integrity, to outright illegal.

For instance: Craigslist has become a CPA (cost per action) marketer’s paradise. While most of those postings aren’t illegal, they certainly are against Craigslist’s Terms Of Service. Craigslist spends a lot of time and money in an ongoing battle to eliminate those ad posters.

I won’t knowingly post black hat methods on this site, which are illegal, but here is my thought for you. If you see a method here which is not comfortable for you, but it has the potential to make money for you, try it. If it works, use the method to make the money you need to get your white hat business going.
